Introduction

ICDL Approved Training Center The International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) Concept is a global computer literacy initiative developed to raise the level of knowledge about Information Technology (IT) and increase the level of competence in using personal computers and common computer applications for all the citizens of the world.

Owned and coordinated by The European Computer Driving Licence Foundation Limited (ECDL-F), a non-profit organization based in Dublin, Ireland, the ICDL GCC Foundation is an internationally recognized, vendor-neutral certificate which demonstrates a person’s competence in computing knowledge and skills in accordance with international standards.

International Computer Driving License (ICDL) - New Syllabus

The new ICDL is made up of a range of modules – each module provides a practical program of up-to-date skills and knowledge areas, which are validated by a test. New ICDL enables you to develop and certify your computer skills in the subject areas of your choosing and to the level that you need – either for work, or for day-to-day life. Through the module combination that chosen by Infocenter, you create your individual ICDL Profile. The ICDL range of modules is categorized as Base modules and Standard modules:

Base Modules

Base modules certify skills that are considered essential skills - together they form the set of skills and knowledge that are crucial for all, which is why they are considered essential. The four Base modules are:

Module 1: Computer Essentials
Covers a skills and concepts relating to the use of devices, file creation and management, networks and data security.

Module 2: Online Essentials
Covers a skills and concepts relating to web browsing, effective information search, online communication and e-mail.

Module 3: Word Processing
Covers a skills to accomplish everyday tasks associated with creating, formatting and finishing word processing documents, such as letters, CVs, and other documents.

Module 4: Spreadsheets
Covers a skills to perform tasks associated with developing, formatting, modifying and using a spreadsheet, to use standard formulas and functions, and to competently create and format graphs or charts.

Standard Modules

There is a wide range of Standard modules to choose from, depending on your needs - either at work or at home. The nine Standard modules are:
